"Our goal is to help foster and develop healthy interests, work on life skills and build a support network for each of our clients." - Taylor Wilson - Founder, Active Recovery Companions
Active Recovery holds the privacy of individuals and their families in the highest regard. We will not share your information or disclose our role to anyone. It is up to the individual we are working with to decide how to explain our presence. Oftentimes, we are referred to as a friend or family member, but it's whatever they feel comfortable with.
I transitioned to Recovery Coaching in 2015 after 3 years of developing activities/team building programs for rehabilitation centers in the Malibu and Los Angeles area. Clients, or their families, began approaching me to work privately and continue aiding in their recovery after they had completed their inpatient treatment.
Since then, my sober companion and mental health companion clientele has varied from high-profile individuals to young adults needing assistance with finding a job. The level of structure varies from a 'live-in' situation, where I'm available to the client 24/7, to meeting with them 4-5 times a week to discuss goals and progress.
Typically, I work with an individual client for six weeks, but I do remain in contact with many of them to this day.
