Liana Reid’s first design project began at six months of sobriety in February of 1989, designing and building the first Musicians Assistance Program office in Buddy Arnold’s home library. The next 10 years of sobriety, while maintaining a flourishing design business, Liana was educated and trained in recovery work as a protégé of Buddy Arnold and Bobby Timmons in their creation of a program of recovery for musicians and artists. “The Musicians Assistance Program” (MAP) began the work of sober companions, recovery coaches, and interventionists.
Liana formed a nonprofit corporation, Upcycled Life, Inc., to open the first transgender-specific sober living, TRANSformation Recovery, in Manhattan. With over 36 years of sobriety and two decades working as a life skills, recovery, and mental health professional, she performs these duties for various agencies and individuals, maintaining the utmost integrity and strictest confidence—all while inspiring clients to become their best selves. Working for various agencies and individuals by referral only.
